Why does your Event Brand Identity Matter?

Your event branding is one of the key factors to marketing and creating a successful event. Firstly it creates the personality of the event and gives your potential attendees insight into what to expect. It is the very first thing that will catch the eye of all potential delegates, sponsors and partners and it will shape the way they remember the event.

Here’s some tips to create a strong and compelling brand identity like a pro.

Your brand should be made up of the following:

  1. Logo – While the branding for your event should reflect your organisations brand, it should also have a brand of its own.
  2. Fonts – When choosing the fonts for your brand select no more than two for the logo and then a third that can be used for content.
  3. Colour Palette – It’s important to come up with the colour palette that will be used across social media, website design, registration portals, marketing emails, the event app and any printed marketing material required. We suggest 2 primary brand colours and 3 secondary colours for flexibility.
  4. Illustrations/Imagery – When thinking about your brand identity it is also wise to choose an epic hero (main) image or design an illustration/s that will be used throughout all marketing materials, the more people see it the more easily recognisable your event brand will become.
  5. Personality – Defining your brands personality is important for consistency. What kind of language will you use? Will it be formal or playful? If your brand were a person what kind of personality would they have?

Here are some other important aspects to think about when branding your event.

Target Audience

You need to understand your target audience, this will help you create a brand identity that will stand out to them and help create the experiences, content and the connections they’re looking to make. Ask yourself these questions before you start your branding.

  1. Who are the people that are going to be buying tickets to your event?
  2. What do they like?
  3. What motivates them?
  4. What are they looking to get out of an event?
  5. Who do they want to connect with?
  6. How will they want to feel?

Consistency

Most importantly, when you have created your brand identity it’s crucial to keep it consistent across all marketing material. This helps to build trust and it will also make your events more recognisable and memorable.

That’s why we refer to it as a brand identity for your event – it isn’t just the logo that is important but the look and feel of all aspects leading up to your event which will help market your event. The brand identity is the first thing you should start with as it will be used across all marketing materials right up until after your event.
